The Adrian University SystemAdria is separated into chartered subdivisions, which have geographic boundaries. We also have a number of groups that do not rely on geography - orders, guilds, domains, and the Church of Adria (which is a non-religious entity). GuildsAdria is one of the rare groups that tolerates excellence. As a group, we are open to the idea of participating at many levels of accuracy. We have found a way to accommodate those who thirst for knowledge without overtaxing our existing ministers. The Adrian University focuses on history and education with the College of the Arts of War, and of the Arts of Peace. Guilds are an important part of the University system. OrdersThere are a number of knightly, and non-knightly orders within Adria, which seek to reward and acknowledge positive behaviours, from excellence in chosen endeavors, to chivalric behaviour.DomainsIn the past, if a group extended over several subdivisions, there was no way to acknowledge their existence as a single unit. For that reason, domains were created to provide that recognition. Domains are not Estates and have no inherent voting rights, but they may have oaths and rules within the empire. Currently, there are three active domains in Adria:Church of AdriaDuring the Middle Ages and Rennaisance in Europe, the Church played a very important role. While historically the Christian Church (in its various demoninations) was the most influential, Adria is a non-religious organization. The Church of Adria was created to be a non-religious way to acknowledge the importance of the Church in history, and to bring the pomp and circumstance into our ceremonies. That is the extent of the Church’s role in the Adrian Empire, and for all intents and purposes, the Churches of Adria is considered to be equivalent to a Guild. |
