Shire of Drachetor
(Northern California)
The Imperial shire of Drachetor was established in 2013 and was the vision of founding Viscount Lord Liam MacBrus, becoming reality with the help of a small cadre of trusted companions.
Named after a golden dragon-eating panther of an ancient Germanic legend, Drachetor is a fictitious place located in northern Europe (near Drachenfels Germany) that represents the many typical rural towns & cities established near crossroads of the medieval & renaissance periods. There is no one culture of Europe and the region represented, as such a settlement was often an overnight stopping off point & way station for armies, merchants, pilgrims and trades people going elsewhere (not unlike modern day airport concourses or train stations). Members of the shire are as varied as the travelers to the shire, with soldiers, hunters, artists, ambassadors and trades people from all over Europe's Royal courts and the known lands being represented. Whenever possible we re-create the cultures, methods, encampments, and trades as they would have been in the Medieval & Renaissance periods, comporting ourselves within our historical personas accordingly.
We have regular monthly crown events with court & combat tournaments usually held at Howard Park in Ione, Ca and monthly archery tournaments usually held separately at Comanche Hills Hunting Preserve in Ione/Lake Comanche, Ca.
We occasionally visit other venues within our chartered lands to put on Demonstrations and Tournaments to allow the shire to interact with the communities we live in. We also have held events at the homes of Members, but prefer the venues where we can interact with the public and other groups similar to ours.
